Suranaree University of Technology

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) is located in Nakhon Ratchasima province, the gateway to the Northeast of Thailand. A young university, it was founded in 1990 as the first autonomous university outside the civil service system. As such SUT has designed its administrative system in an efficient manner, to be responsive to a rapidly changing environment. The University has a regional, national and international outlook.

In accordance with the needs for national scientific and technological development, SUT offers undergraduate programs in engineering, agricultural technology, information technology and health sciences. Its annual intake of engineering students is the largest in the country. At present, and in conformance with the university's mission to produce world-class research and researchers, the university offers eighteen graduate programs in engineering and the sciences.

Situated about 15km southwest of the provincial capital, the university campus covers a sizeable 1,120 hectares, including an academic zone, Technopolis business and research park, residential facilities for both staff and students, and the university farm. Today the university has more than 5000 undergraduate students, 150 graduate students, 188 academic and 737 general staff.

Suranaree University of Technology bases its academic year on three trimesters of thirteen weeks duration each. Courses start late in May and finish at the beginning of April of each year. There is a short break of two to three weeks duration between terms, and of seven weeks during the hottest months of April and May.
